KHAYAM Golfam
Iranian composer & improviser Golfam Khayam has created music that is described by Al Jazeera as “Innovative art and a perfect testament to the universality of music.” She has spent many years of extensive research on the traditional Persian idiom as well as education and experience of the Western classical idiom. In conclusion, she has developed a personal language that reframes Middle Eastern and Western music in contemporary compositions.
She is a winner of Rostrum of Composers’ “Windows of the World” in Paris, as well as the recipient of Arvo Part Center annual scholarship residency, Golfam has appeared extensively as a performer-composer and her music is being performed worldwide. She has received commissions from highly recognized musicians and ensembles including Opera aix en Provence, Klangwerkstatt Berlin, New West Symphony USA, Basel Music University FHNW, Multimod Geneve, as well as multimedia projects and film music produced in cooperation with the legendary Iranian filmmaker Kiarostami. Since 2016, Golfam has joined the prestigious German record label ECM Records.
